Ronald Wayne Otto has been with the Associated General Contractors of Iowa as their Technical Director since November of 2005. He retired from the Iowa D.O.T. after forty-seven years. He began in the Ames construction residency in 1957 as a rod man on a survey crew, then was named party chief, and supervised Ames construction employees for more than twenty years. In 1998 he was appointed Civil Rights administrator for External programs. he was named Director of the office of Right-of-way for the Iowa D.O.T. in 2000 and was the only employee for the D.O.T. or the Iowa State Highway Commission Engineering Bureau to be elevated to Office Director without an Engineering Degree or at least a College Degree.
Mr. Otto is a graduate of Milford Township Consolidated High School, Nevada Iowa. He received the Associated General Contractors of Iowa Award for Outstanding Service in the Public Sector & Extraordinary to the Improvements of Iowa’s Transportation System.
Mr. Otto is married to Sandra, they have three children Julie, Todd, and Chris, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
